Rain Water Harvesting
Since a decade back, the importance of Rain Water Harvesting has been of growing interest in the Urban Population. Shortages of water have been the major reason for the Urban Population in the Kathmandu Valley to seek Alternative Sources of Water. Off Late, due to the various awareness programs, people have been also aware of the proper recharging of the Well and other sources through appropriate management of Rain Water.
Why Rain water harvesting?
- To arrest groundwater decline and boost groundwater table
- To conserve surface water runoff during monsoon
- To inculcate a culture of water conservation
- A well-planned Rain Water Harvesting system can reduce up to 30% of the water requirement from other conventional sources like bore wells or municipal supplies.
- To make a sustainable approach to water conservation culture at Government schools.
Currently Splash Nepal (Prabhav Nepal) has installed Rain Water harvest in several Government schools at Kathmandu Nepal.
