On Nov 8, 2020: Shree Chepel Basic School, Sotang Rural Municipality-2, Chepel was benefited with Splash Nepal intervention for the WASH sector, under the support of Friends of Chepel e.V. and Chepel Foundation. Seven Flags Approach of Total Sanitation (7FATS) Concept was introduced first time in that rural municipality, also in this district.
Splash Nepal presented joyous thanks to the funding agency Friends of Chepel e.V. and Chepel Foundation and congratulated the school for better infrastructures. Dr. Isabelle Buschulte and the team, together with Mr. Karma Sherpa are really appreciable personalities for the developmental intervention in school and village. Wishing for better cooperation and friendship, all, directly and indirectly, linked persons are also thanked for supporting the project activities and positive intervention.
Splash Nepal Technicians have carried out the project in five days. They dedicated their time to school betterment and completed the following activities.
- Manual ultra-filtration system was installed in newly constructed building.
- Two glass fibre Station for Drinking Station in the new building,
- Two hand washing Station was installed at toilet, nearby newly built toilet for proper hygiene
- Provision of 500ltr polytank each as elevated storage tank for drinking water and handwashing station.
- Sanitation informative painting for awareness of proper handwashing steps
Also, WASH coordinator Anjeema Rai found this school is developing state,as per the baseline survey and analysis, and carried 7FATS training for students was carried out and formed team for self motivation and inspiration for hygiene practice.
WASH projects enhance the knowledge, skills, and practices of students, teachers, and concerned personnel of schools about water, sanitation, and hygiene. Also, the 7FATS team of students is now responsible characters for the betterment of their own school. Focal teachers Ram Bahadur Basnet and Mim Kumari Rai thanks for this Seven Flags Approach of Total Sanitation and will bring up a new plan, policies, and programs related to WASH. This ideology and action plan promotes and maintains the state of a clean, green, and healthy school environment. Also, they have now filtered water facilities, with safe drinking water.
School Administration and School Management Committee admired the pace of Splash Nepal’s WASH intervention. Principal Devendra Prasad Shah promised to push forward the students to change and create the face of the school. This approach will be helpful for their school and an example action in that area.
